“No matter what happens, no matter how far you seem to be away from where you want to be, never stop believing that you will somehow make it. Have an unrelenting belief that things will work out, that the long road has a purpose, that the things that you desire may not happen today, but they will happen. Continue to persist and persevere.” – Brad Gast
This sacred journey of life is filled with many twists and turns. This earth school is a unique and powerfully transforming environment or ‘school’ for us to learn, grow and heal, in unprecedented ways. One of the most evolutionary and revolutionary forums is learning the art of perseverance. Everyone here, in this earth school is mastering the quality of love. There are 86 soul qualities and additionally, our soul will be working on other qualities, either continuing its learning from previous lives, exploring different shades and hues of a quality, or is discovering it for the first time. Perseverance is one of these qualities that many of us are learning and mastering.
Each experience, challenge and relationship are a ‘classroom’ that provides the backdrop necessary for the growth or healing the soul is seeking. Just as the diamond needs pressure to become its fullest potential and radiance, at times we too need certain surroundings to facilitate and foster our highest potential.
When we are faced with obstacles, challenges, blocks or unexpected detours, perseverance is often the quality being honed. The essence of this quality is to be able to continue, especially after a period where committed labour and exertion has been applied. To be steadfast in maintaining our purpose, direction, passion and dreams, despite difficulty, obstacles, disappointments and discouragement.
Perseverance also brings forth other qualities. Tenacity is birthed or brought forth, assisting us the ability to hang on when letting go or giving up appears the more attractive route. Strength and resilience emerge as we pierce the barriers placed before us and overcome what we once thought impossible. These moments and experiences can be the most transformative because it is in these times where we truly meet ourselves. Face to face. Eye to eye. Where we encounter our fears, frailties and shadow aspects. Most importantly we discover our greater gifts and abilities and tap into unrealized potential.
Sometimes, obstacles and challenges can be our inner guidance steering us into a different direction or path. So how do we discern when it’s that rather than perseverance that’s called for? We do so by taking a pause. Stepping back and looking at it, the situation or challenge, from different perspectives. This allows us to see things from a more comprehensive view, which expedites the forthcoming of clarity. This supports us to be able to tune into whether its truly of resonance for us to continue forward or that its not in alignment with our highest path, at that current moment or at all. When we step back and take time to reflect, we can become more neutral. Which allots us the insight to recognize any attachments and expectations that are limiting us or no longer serving, providing a moment of healing or perspective shifting. We can then ask ourselves, and our guidance to show us, if there’s something that needs to be transformed, where we need to shift consciousness, so that we can transcend the obstacle or challenge.
Sometimes we are asked to slow down, or halt for a period because there may be extenuating circumstances, we aren’t aware of. There’s a sophisticated choreography to the design of life and the interplay between our experiences and relationships. Meaning a piece of the puzzle needs to be present and isn’t yet. Or something within us, another person or in the collective field needs more cultivation, readiness or alignment. When we are in the flow of life, we can more easily trust the unfolding of the divine order and timing.
When we still feel the calling, resonance or inspiration to carry forward, albeit obstacles, challenges, disappointments, then we are in the journey of perseverance. Sometimes we find ourselves in an experience that we are very clear is teaching us this quality, such as when we are dealing with a long term or chronic condition, or we are in a longer-term situation such as caregiving.
When we can come to an understanding that whatever is playing out, is ‘happening for us’, not to us, we become more empowered and can find the deeper meaning and opportunity offered. For the true purpose of each experience is to always support our evolution and offer the development and or mastery of a soul quality. To offer new awareness and or to gain the capacity to align to and hold a higher frequency, such as compassion, faith, inner or spiritual strength, understanding, etc.
Perseverance teaches us how to be flexible and in the present moment. Inviting us to come into acceptance to what is the current reality we are dealing with, which doesn’t mean giving up or in. It is the starting point which opens the energy gates for new ideas, innovations and creativity to enter in and flow. This journey develops grit, which becomes an unshakeable center point within, to follow our resonance, dreams and visions. Allowing new, higher expressions of ourselves the freedom to reveal and soar.
When we are met with blocks, obstacles, exhaustion, challenges, etc., it is common for us to feel self doubt. To even at times feel paralyzed and confused to move forward or carry on. To even feel we don’t have the actual ability to do so. At these times, its beneficial to increase our self nurturing. To go within, coming back to our center. To take some time to connect, with our loved ones, nature, animals or anything that resonates with us and which grounds and restores our energy reserves. Which will guide us back to our ‘why’.
When we release resistance and can relate to our experiences from a conscious choice, such as freedom rather than frustration, or love rather than fear, we come into alignment with our soul’s guidance easier and can feel relaxed and more in the enjoyment of the process, rather than trying to always be somewhere other than the now moment. And that’s where the magic resides. Stress and struggle are replaced with curiosity, patience and faith. Bringing a very different vibe to our experiences.
When we can come back to the remembering that we are here to create. That we have the innate courage, strength and power to choose each moment and create the life we truly wish for and can imagine, then peace and harmony can rise forth. Faith within ourselves births. And we recall our higher purpose for being here and can show up renewed, restored, inspired, steady, strong and loving! Our path clears, the storm clouds break, and new wind sets in our sails.
An invitation and reminder for ourselves: If we are currently feeling discouraged, hopeless, exhausted, empty, rudderless…lets give ourselves permission to be where we are. To take a break and let ourselves reset. To ask what we need and allow ourselves the grace of giving it to ourselves. To breathe. Relax when we can. Journal. To ask our guidance for inner and spiritual strength. We’ve been through much, so let’s ask for the support we need. One minute, hour, day at a time. Let’s come into our heart and know we are deeply loved, and we matter. Let’s choose to persevere! Choose to live fearlessly! Choose to feel the messy emotions and pain. And when we are ready and able, to choose love! Choose life. Yes, it takes incredible courage to choose love and life. Our power is in the choosing. And we are powerful beyond measure!
(I have to share this…..while I’m writing this, I discovered a vine growing out of the trim of my window. Literally growing out of the trim, inside my house….I’m taking this as a reminder that life is strong, prolific and things can happen that we normally don’t think can, or make sense. When there’s a will, a desire to live, it will find a way. To me, this is a sign of Hope!!! What do you think?)
